Arteries

Blocked artery in a major artery below the knee. This vessel was treated with orbital atherectomy and balloon angioplasty to restore circulation. Orbital atherectomy is a device that has a tiny crown imbedded with diamonds that shaves the calcium. Those particles are smaller than a red blood cell and pass through circulation. Balloon angioplasty is then performed restoring blood flow to the foot and leg.

Blood flow restored to the leg and foot.

This leg was saved from amputation after opening a closed vessel to the leg and foot. Unfortunately most patients undergo amputation before a vascular specialist can see and treat. We save over 90% of patients from amputation with feet like this one or even worse.
